Transitional Coach Ministry Role – Fort St. John Alliance Church
1. Role of the Transitional Coach
The Role of a Transitional Coach is to provide guidance and support for the Transitional process. This includes:
a) Providing ongoing coaching for the Transitional Pastor and the Board of Elders through the transition.
b) Working collaboratively with the Transitional Pastor and the Board of Elders to establish and achieve agreed upon Key Result Areas (KRAs) that need to be in place prior to engaging in the Pastoral Search.
c) Assisting (as needed) in the development of Vision/Mission and the Pastoral Profile.
d) Serving as a support, mentor and colleague for the Transitional Pastor.
e) The Transitional Pastor and Transitional Coach work in partnership to achieve mutually agreed upon transitional objectives.
f) The Transitional Coach is not an employee of the church; rather he serves the church in a consulting capacity.
g) A Transitional Coach is never a candidate for the Lead Pastor position.

2. Transitional Pastor and Transitional Coach Relationship
• The working relationship between the Transitional Pastor and Transitional Coach is a ministry partnership created to effectively achieve the agreed upon transitional objectives.
• The Transitional Pastor and Transitional Coach will work collaboratively to achieve the Transitional goals in collaboration with the Board of Elders. This will include ongoing communication and regular weekly meetings (via Skype) as well as on-site visits from time to time by the Transitional Coach.
3. Limitations of the Transitional Coach’s Role
The Transitional Coach shall have no authority to:
• Change the agreed upon role of the Transitional Pastor.
• Set the long term direction and vision for the church.
• Hire or dismiss staff
• Terminate ministries or ministry programs
• Influence the outcomes of the Search process.
